SUMMARY:
We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Low-Voltage Project Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will understand low-voltage systems, including structured cabling, security, fire alarm, and audio-visual systems. This role involves locating and researching Requests for Proposals, reviewing project plans and specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and collaborating with both internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful project bids.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify Bid Opportunities: Monitor bid boards and aggregate sites for relevant low-voltage projects. Assess projects for viability to ISN’s capabilities.
- Analyze Project Documents: Thoroughly review blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to understand the scope of work for low-voltage systems.
- Quantity Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment required for each project.
- Cost Estimation: Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, permits, and other project-related expenses.
- Vendor Communication: Obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and services.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including cost summaries, proposals, and supporting documentation.
- Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering without compromising quality or functionality.
- Maintain Databases: Update and maintain estimating databases and cost history records.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, sales teams, and engineers to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
- Stay Current: Keep abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and pricing changes in the low-voltage market.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Proven experience as a low-voltage estimator or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of low-voltage systems, including structured cabling, security systems, fire alarm systems, and audio-visual systems.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant software applications.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
- Industry Certifications: BICSI certifications (RCDD, DCDC, etc.), Avixa certifications, or equivalent industry certifications are a plus.
- Manufacturer Certifications: Knowledge of Crestron, Q-Sys, or AMX intelligent audio-visual systems in the audio-visual or low-voltage industry is a plus.
- Bachelor's Degree: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.

- Ability to prepare reports, maintain logs and records.
- Ability to sit for two hours or more at a time.
- Ability to climb a footstool or ladder independently for retrieving or reviewing.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to get from one location to another independently while doing business.
COMPENSATION:
- $70,100 - $84,900 per year.
